The benefit of eating a low-carb diet is that you can still get enough fiber in your diet. Eating too few carbs can cause you to develop constipation, which makes it difficult for your body to eliminate waste. Aim to consume 25 grams of fiber per day and include fruits and vegetables in your diet.
Controlling Your Carb Intake
The easiest way to control your carb intake is by making smart food choices when eating out. For example, if you eat at a Chinese restaurant, order steamed vegetables and chicken with the sauce on the side instead of fried rice or noodles. Choose lean meats, such as chicken or fish, over red meat, which tend to be higher in saturated fat. Avoid sugary desserts or breads at meals.
