A visit to the movies is a great treat to share with family and friends, but it can also be somewhat of a minefield if you're watching your carbs. You don't want to be sitting there munching on celery stalks while everyone else is enjoying popcorn, do you?
Fortunately, there are some low carb movie snacks that will help you avoid temptation and stay in ketosis.
If you're trying to reduce your carbohydrate intake, there's no need to miss out on the cinema trip. There are plenty of low carb movie snacks that you can enjoy while watching the latest blockbuster.
Here are some of the most popular movie treats and our healthier alternatives:
Popcorn contains 12 grams of carbohydrates per 100g serving. A large popcorn can contain a whopping 50g of carbohydrates! Instead, opt for a small serving of peanuts or a small serving of popcorn. As an added bonus, both peanuts and popcorn contain healthy fats and proteins to help keep you feeling fuller for longer!
A 100g bag of M&M's contains 65g of carbohydrates. To avoid such a high carbohydrate snack, opt for a small bag of mixed nuts which only contains 1g of carbohydrates per 30g serving.
A 100g bag of Skittles contains 82g of carbohydrates. To avoid this sweet treat, why not try some dried fruit? A 30g serving only contains 9g of carbohydrates compared to the Skittles' 82 grams!
If you do choose a small bag of mixed nuts or dried fruit, remember to keep track so that you don't overindulge in these snacks too!
If you're heading to the cinema, you'll want to enjoy the experience and not worry about what snacks are available. You can choose healthy low carb movie snacks so that you don't have to worry about the "bad" stuff. Sugar-filled treats will negate any effort you put into eating healthily and can make you feel sluggish while watching the movie.

Picking a movie snack to munch on while you re-watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens for the 50th time (it's OK, we won't judge) can be tricky. If you're eating low carb, you'll want to avoid foods like popcorn and candy. A medium-sized popcorn tub at Regal Cinemas packs 1,200 calories and 60 grams of fat. Ouch! And while candy may seem harmless, many popular choices contain over 30 grams of sugar per serving.
