The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, low carb eating plan that forces your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. When your body is in ketosis, you're burning fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates, which can lead to significant weight loss and health benefits.
Nutritional ketosis is different from diabetic ketoacidosis, a serious complication of diabetes. In nutritional ketosis, there are no acidifying ketone bodies in the blood that can be dangerous if they accumulate. Instead, the level of acidity in the blood is maintained within a narrow range by other mechanisms.
Diets that limit carbohydrates to no more than 50 grams per day can result in the state of nutritional ketosis. It's important to note that most people on these diets don't achieve true nutritional ketosis as defined by an accurate measurement of blood or urine ketones.
The Low Carb 360 - Your Guide To Amazing Health And Weight Loss
Your body will be able to produce more energy. You will wake up feeling refreshed, motivated and ready to take on the day. You will not feel the need to nap during the day or slump over your desk from fatigue. No longer will you need to rely on coffee, tea, or energy drinks to get through a slow afternoon.
You will feel more focused and productive as your mind becomes more alert and in tune with the world around you. The fog that once clouded your thinking will disappear and you will experience a renewed sense of clarity.
The stress hormone levels in your body will drop which means that you'll be less stressed out, more calm, and better equipped to handle life's problems as they come up. The less stressed out you are, the less likely you are to experience cravings for unhealthy foods and snacks.
You'll have natural energy throughout the day without having to rely on coffee or caffeinated energy drinks that cause blood sugar spikes and crashes which leads to hunger pangs and cravings for caffeine fixes later in the day.
Low Carb Flaxseed Wraps Ingredients
3 tablespoons milled flaxseed (I use this one)
3 tablespoons sesame seeds
3 eggs beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water (you can use up to 3/4 cup if needed)
Low Carb Flaxseed Wraps Instructions
In a bowl add the milled flaxseeds, sesame seeds, eggs, salt and water and stir well to combine. I use a hand whisk for this. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Pour approximately two thirds of the mixture into the centre of the pan. Once it starts to cook pick up the pan and tip from side to side so that the mixture covers the base evenly. Cook until lightly golden on both sides then remove from the pan and place onto a wire rack to cool. Repeat with remaining mixture making three wraps in total. Store wrapped in cling film or store in an airtight container in the fridge until required. You can also freeze these wraps between layers of baking paper in zip lock bags for up to 3 months.
