What is carb-free gum?

Carb-free gum is a sugar-free chewing gum that contains no carbohydrates. This means the gum has no calories and won't affect your blood sugar levels. It is marketed as a low-carb alternative to traditional chewing gums and breath mints, which contain sugars or artificial sweeteners.

Carb-free gum is a new trend that has been popularized recently. Most sugar free gums use artificial sweeteners which have carbs in them to help keep the sugar free gum sweet. The most common ingredient used to add sweetness in sugar free gum is Maltitol, which has about 8 calories and 5 grams of carbs per gram of Maltitol. The way it works is that the body does not fully absorb Maltitol, so you get some of the sweetness without the calories or carbs.

Now there are a few brands who are using different ingredients like Xylitol and Erythritol to make a true carb free gum. These ingredients however do not have the same level of sweetness as regular sugar or artificial sweeteners. This means that some people will be able to tolerate them while others may find them too bitter and may have to stick with sugar free gums with artificial sweeteners.

The other issue with carb free gums is that they tend to be more expensive than other types of sugar free gums, so you may want to start off with a smaller pack until you know if you can tolerate it. Carb-free gum is a sugar-free, sugar alcohol-free chewing gum that provides a burst of freshness when chewed.

Unlike conventional sugar gums, carb-free gum is made without artificial sweeteners such as sorbitol, which can cause digestive distress when ingested in large quantities.

No sugar, no artificial sweeteners and no compromise on taste. Sugar-free Trident contains fluoride for oral health, is ADA accepted and has 50% fewer calories than sugared gum. Trident is the only sugarless gum that is approved by the ADA Council on Scientific Affairs.

The flavor of Trident lasts longer than ordinary gum because Trident uses real ingredients. Trust Trident to stand up to your favorite foods like coffee, chocolate and wine.

Carb-Free Gum Benefits

Gum-chewing is a fairly common habit in many countries. In the United States, an estimated 158 billion sticks of gum are sold annually, according to a 2007 report by "Food Review." Because it's so popular and easily accessible, carbohydrate-free gum is often touted as a safe, legal and inexpensive way to control weight. Unfortunately, although chewing gum can be helpful for weight control, it has few advantages over other low-calorie foods. For this reason, you should always keep your gum intake in moderation to avoid unwanted side effects.

Sugarless Gum

The primary advantage of sugarless gum is its low calorie content. Most brands of sugarless gum contain about 5 calories per stick. When used in place of other high-calorie snacks -- like chips or cookies -- chewing gum can help you meet your goal weight more easily. Sugarless gum also supports oral health because it helps stimulate saliva production and washes away bacteria that causes tooth decay. Finally, if you chew sugarless gum after eating a meal containing indigestible carbohydrates -- such as whole grains or beans -- it can help you manage flatulence discomfort.
